Dömitz is the most southerly municipality in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern located directly on the Elbe River in the triangle of states Brandenburg, Lower Saxony and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Water transport on the Elbe and its border location give the town its shape.

Some of the characteristics of the landscape are the meadows of the Elbe and the brickwork architecture. Visitors to the region can enjoy nature trails, cycling paths and, of course, excellent conditions for water sports.

Dömitz itself, known for its much-used new Elbe bridge, is also prized for its charming small town atmosphere, as well as its enchanting historic treasures – the most important of these being, of course, the Renaissance fortress.
